Welcome to weedpatch.com!

This website is the successor to a newsletter called The Weedpatch Gazette [TWG], which was published and distributed in the Midwest for ten years, but ceased because the Internet offers such a great opportunity to share information so much more quickly with so many more people.The information contained in TWG was of exceptional quality, and I am excited to offer you here a searchable database of the hundreds of articles that appeared in the print version.

One of the greatest aspects of TWG was that it offered gardeners the ability to express and share their opinions. As this site continues construction, my intention is to offer you the same opportunity. You will soon be able to post your own ideas about plants, nurseries, public gardens, gardening books, and other resources: stay tuned!

I do invite you to post gardening events (such as garden tours, lectures, plant sales, and so forth) that you believe Chicago region and Midwest gardeners would like to attend.

The plant database is being updated as well. If you can contribute photographs of particular cultivars of plants in exchange for a byline/credit, please give a holler.

With your help, weedpatch.com can become "command-central" for in-depth information that we Midwest gardeners crave on the good, the bad, and the ugly of the plant world.
